Rock out

Tonight I am going to see the amazing Animal Collective in concert. I absolutely love going to live shows- such fun energy and there is nothing like it.

Some of my tips for concert attire-

The most important thing is your choice in shoes- I always wear boots or sneakers. Comfort is key and you need to be able to dance of course!

Keep accessories to a minimum, they just plain get in the way. This is about the only time I limit my jewelry:)

You can never go wrong with jeans and a tee shirt- Classic and cool.

Check out some of my favorite tracks off their epic Merriweather Post Pavilion album:

The Importance of a Belt

Moda International Sweater, Old Navy Silk Blouse, Barney's New York Leather Belt, Levi's Jeans, Pour La Victoire Boots, Urban Outfitters Sunnies, Forever 21 Ring, Lauren Merkin Clutch

Belts are the most under appreciated and overlooked accessory. They are such a fun item that can add so much to an outfit through function and style. A nice leather belt can also help you from pulling up your skinny jeans all day long- very important!

Shopping for belts: Always look for quality, a fine one will last a long time and never go out of style. Belts are one of my favorite items to find at thrift stores- you can usually find a high quality leather or snakeskin belt for $2 or less.

Here is my outfit without a belt, see how it looks like something is missing? A belt adds a cohesive element to an outfit and finishes off your look.

Printed Out

A good print can sometimes be hard to come by. This tunic has been such a favorite staple in my wardrobe. The mix of colors and the geometric design makes an ideal print for me. Trust your instincts when buying prints- If you love it, you will wear it.

H&M Tunic(tucked in and worn as a blouse), Vintage Belt, Roxy Skirt, Oliver Peoples Sunglasses, BCBG Stockings, Charles David Booties, Forever 21 Necklace and Purse, Off Saks Ring

How fun is this little purse I picked up recently? It goes right along with my color obsession- electric blue. I think it will be so fun to wear it in the summer with white.

Breakin the Rules

Gap Shirt, Bottega Veneta Belt, Joe's Jeans, Marc by Marc Jacobs Purse, Family Antique Necklace, Rings: Off Saks & Forever 21, Foster Grant Sunnies, BCBG Flats

I love to try new things, especially in fashion. Recently I was inspired by Charlize Theron's denim on denim outfit. I tried this look out for myself & had fun with it.

Tips for trying a double denim ensemble:
  • Keep the denims in completely different washes. The most flattering is a dark denim on the bottom half & a lighter denim on the top.
  • Wearing it with neutral & classic accessories to let the denim do the talking.
  • Confidence & a sense of humor. You are wearing a Canadian Tuxedo after all:)

Love these pearl snap buttons!

Spotted on Telegraph

Vintage Leopard Coat & Necklace, Echo Scarf, J.Crew Tee, Gap skinny Highwaisted Jeans, Nadri Earrings, Off Saks Ring, BCBG bracelet, Bottega Veneta Purse, Drugstore Sunnies, Pour La Victoire Boots

I love prints and color, can you tell?

Instead of buying a basic black coat, have fun with a statement coat. A bold coat is an instant style boost to an outfit. Vintage is a fabulous way to shop for coats & you usually find natural, high quality materials that really keep you warm.

Tip for mixing prints- have the prints be different sizes, it allows the prints to stand out on their own. Wearing one of my favorite combos: leopard and floral- Just gorgeous!
